Forterra Celebrates its Current and Past AmeriCorps Members

In honor of AmeriCorps Week 2017, we are excited to celebrate the major impact that AmeriCorps and other service corps have on Forterra and many of us who work here. AmeriCorps is a federally funded program of more than 80,000 annual members who volunteer and devote their time to nonprofits, governmental agencies, and schools around the country. Members receive a small stipend, an education award, and a wealth of job experience. Forterra currently hosts a crew of five AmeriCorps members, and one individual placement, from the Washington Conservation Corps and they are contributing over 10,000 hours of work on Forterra’s managed lands this year. We would not be able to accomplish much of the good work we do in Washington without these hardworking individuals and without the AmeriCorps program.

This season’s Washington Conservation Crew includes (from left to right) Eamonn Collins, Tobin Tripp, Anne Heron, Bridget Cook, and Stella Rudge.

In addition to the great work that current and past AmeriCorps members have done at Forterra and on Forterra lands, many of the current Forterra staff members got their careers in conservation work started as an AmeriCorps or other service corps volunteer. This experience has been pivotal to our lives and we could not be doing the incredible work we get to engage in every day at Forterra without the experience we received as an AmeriCorps member.
