Using these findings, we can more effectively connect with the public on issues of regional growth and sustainability and move the needle on ensuring a healthy and vibrant Pacific Northwest, today and for future generations.

We are lucky to live in a place with so many organizations and individuals working toward positive and progressive change. And while there are encouraging signs that we’re making a difference, we’re not getting ahead of the rising tide: steadily growing population; increasing climate change impacts; mounting economic and social inequities, relentless traffic congestion; persistent homeless crisis.

We are each doing important work yet we have failed to mobilize enough public will to turn that tide.

In an effort to discover how to speak so that people will invest and act more deeply to sustain this place, in the spring of 2015, Forterra, along with King County Council, Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) and Amazon, undertook a values based messaging research project.

We bring the results to you because your success in moving the public in support of your work is critically important to us. By aligning our voices to create more powerful and lasting messages that resonate with our public, we will maximize our collective impact.

We developed a communications guide from the research findings to help collectively speak with a stronger common voice and amplify our impact. We’ve also created a presentation of the results, with an introduction by Gene Duvernoy, President of Forterra. We hope you find these useful.
