A focus on safety in Tukwila
Safety is a priority issue for the city of Tukwila and its residents, too.
Community members are concerned about personal safety walking at night, pedestrian safety crossing big roads such as Tukwila International Boulevard and increased crime at the new transit center.
That’s why over 70 community members gathered at Showalter Middle School on October 20th to discuss safety in the city of Tukwila. Young and old residents representing five language groups, police officers and fire fighters participated in meaningful conversation.
We asked residents to provide feedback on what would make them feel safer and received many important ideas. Ideas gathered during this event will help inform how the city addresses safety issues moving forward. Beyond information, the relationships built this evening are an essential component to building a safe community for all.
