SUMMARY:Identify that Fungi [SOLD OUT]
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT\nAll available spaces for Identify that Fungi have been reserved. If you’ve not already received confirmation for November 8th\, we invite you to explore upcoming events here. \nLocation Change! Identify That Fungi will now take place at the Morse Wildlife Preserve. Morse Wildlife Preserve offers ample parking\, a Honey Bucket\, and acres of wild prairie\, wetlands\, and upland forest—perfect for our large group’s morning of discovering fungi and spotting wildlife. \n\n \nWhat to Expect\nDuring this slow meander through the woods\, participants will learn the key tree species in the PNW and why those are important for identifying and finding fungi. We’ll learn the roles fungi play in the ecosystem and how to distinguish different mushrooms with field guides and spore prints. This class is great for beginners hoping to dive into the world of fungi and foraging along with plant identification. \n

SUMMARY:Forterra Fridays: November 2026
DESCRIPTION:Last Forterra Friday of the season\, and we’re going out with trees! Join us at Crystal Springs Park\, a 13-acre hidden gem in Tukwila\, to plant native trees that will cool salmon streams and shelter wildlife for generations. \nWe’ll kick things off with a short walk and a chat with restoration pros about the Green Tukwila Partnership and how Forterra is redefining land conservation in the Pacific Northwest. Then we dig in. \n \nWhat we are doing: We’ll plant native trees to build a stronger forest canopy. A lot of restoration work has already happened at Crystal Springs\, and this is your chance to help shape its next chapter. \nAbout Crystal Springs Park: This oasis sits between Westfield Southcenter and SeaTac Airport. Its cold-water springs once irrigated local farms\, and a historic concrete tank still stands as a reminder. Mature deciduous and mid-aged conifer trees shelter coyotes\, owls\, pileated woodpeckers\, salamanders\, hawks\, and eagles. The springs are also home to a rare freshwater snail\, Pristinicola hemphilli\, whose population may even be its own distinct species. Water from the park flows into lower Gilliam Creek\, which supports Chinook salmon\, Coho salmon\, and sea-run cutthroat trout. \nWhat to bring: Dress in warm\, weather-appropriate layers and bring a reusable water bottle. Forterra will supply tools\, gloves\, drinks\, and snacks. \nWhere to park: Park in the Crystal Springs Park parking lot at 15832 51st Ave S. Signs will direct you from there to our meeting spot. \nRegister and learn more here.

SUMMARY:Wild Women Walk
DESCRIPTION:Event Overview: \nThis women-only event celebrates the season with a walk through a wintery Northwest landscape. Bundle up and get out there to discover that the forest and all its inhabitants are still there. The frost moon or long night moon\, is remarkable and historically marks a time of reflection and renewal. If we find an appropriate location\, we may gather around a fire. Bring warm drinks and some stories to share. \nAbout Morse Wildlife Preserve\nMorse is over 90 acres of forest\, prairie and wetland landscape that provides habitat for all sorts of plants and animals\, including: black tailed deer\, Roosevelt elk\, bobcat\, thatcher ants and countless migratory birds in the spring. This land-story begins with the owners and private partners recognizing the value of conservation and ultimately working with Forterra to hold and steward the property. Over time\, Forterra developed partnerships with the Bird Alliance and the Morse Force. These community and regional organizations provide the weekly stewardship\, restoration and study particular to this landscape. A gem of a landscape\, Morse Wildlife Preserve is a perfect example of donors\, community and vision of nature and people thriving together. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:2027 Spring Gathering
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Preston Singletary & Spike Mafford\nThis Earth Day\, join Forterra for our Spring Gathering – an evening that brings together two artists who’ve spent decades looking at the same question from different angles: what do we owe the land\, and the people who belong to it?  \nPreston Singletary is a Tlingit glass artist based in Seattle\, known internationally for fusing traditional Tlingit formline design with glassblowing – a material with no place in his ancestors’ toolkit\, and yet\, in his hands\, one of the clearest vessels for their stories. His work sits in the collections of the Smithsonian\, the British Museum\, and the Seattle Art Museum\, and has toured the country in Raven and the Box of Daylight\, a solo exhibition built around the Tlingit story of how light came into the world.  \nSpike Mafford is a Seattle photographer whose lens has spent the last twenty years fixed on the forests of Washington\, Oregon\, Canada\, and Alaska – and on what we stand to lose as old growth disappears. His images don’t just document the land; they ask us to reckon with our place in it.  \nSingletary and Mafford have known each other since middle school\, and their creative paths have run in parallel ever since. They’re now developing new collaborative work – monumental photographs of Singletary’s glass and human subjects set within stands of old-growth trees – exploring art\, climate change\, and Tlingit language and history side by side. At Forterra’s Gathering\, they’ll talk about that collaboration\, and about the through-line in both of their work: that protecting nature and honoring people are the same act\, not two separate ones.  \nThat’s the spirit of the evening – and its core to why Forterra does this work. On the day the world pauses to think about the planet\, we’re gathering to celebrate the artists\, storytellers\, and neighbors who remind us why land\, culture\, and community are inseparable.  \n  \n\n\n  \nSponsor Packages Now Available\nWe invite returning and new sponsors to select their preferred tier as soon as possible. Your support makes this event and\, more importantly\, Forterra’s work throughout Washington possible. Explore our 2027 Forterra Spring Gathering Sponsor Tiers & Benefits.
