Come join a queer community of environmental stewards for the fifth Earth Gay Tacoma! This year’s service project at the Gog Le Hi Te Wetlands will help restore a vital habitat for birds, salmon, and other wildlife in the Puyallup River and Commencement Bay. We will work in the riparian buffer to remove invasive species such as blackberry, scotch broom, and others so that volunteers can return to plant flowering native perennials this fall. Join our efforts to restore and add a little color to the landscape! All ages, all abilities, and allies welcome.
What to Bring: Wear long pants, and sturdy closed footwear. We recommend sun protection including a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Bring a refillable water bottle, we will have water to refill. Gloves, tools, drinks, snacks, and instruction provided.
Volunteers under 18: If you are a volunteer under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian, please print and bring this waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
This event is sponsored by the Washington Conservation Voters, the Washington Environmental Council, the Rainbow Center, the Port of Tacoma, and Forterra.
