Have fun, do good, and get involved! Join the Green Redmond Partnership in Farrel-McWhirter Park for a fun morning of helping the forest and this great park. We’ll be removing invasive weeds to make room for trees and native plants to thrive.
Farrel-McWhirter Park has so much to offer, but it needs your help too! Come for the volunteer event and help keep the forest healthy, stay for a peaceful walk along the trails, check out Mackey Creek, meet the animals at the farm, play at the playground, have a picnic, or play games on the lawn.
Volunteers of all ages and experience levels welcome. If you are 15 or under, please bring a responsible adult with you. Students and adults can earn service hours. We provide gloves, tools, training and light refreshments. Friends and family members are welcome but please RSVP for all members of your party to help us plan.
Time: Saturday, Feb 25th, 9 am
Address: Farrel-McWhirter Park, 19545 NE Redmond Rd, 98053
Where to park: Park in the main parking lot off of Redmond Rd, or in the north lot if you’re coming from NE 116th St
Where to meet: From the main entrance to the park, make a left when you see the farm animals and cross the lawn towards the playground equipment and the Mackey Creek picnic shelter. Cross a small footbridge over Mackey Creek and head down a short path through the woods. From the north parking lot, head towards the equestrian ring and find us behind it.
What to bring: a water bottle, a snack if you want one, and tough clothes, and shoes that can get dirty (because they will!), including long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against prickly blackberry. Closed-toed shoes are required: work boots, hiking boots, or running shoes are all fine. Remember to check the weather and bring appropriate layers and rain gear or sun protection as needed.
Please sign up by emailing us at email@example.com or calling 206-905-6924
All ages welcome. If you are a volunteer under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian, please print and bring this waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
