Learn about events to celebrate the environment and get outdoors in your local Green City!

Every year, our Green City partners host events to get local communities outdoors and celebrating their environment, through volunteer stewardship work, kids’ activities, and other fun programs. This year with COVID-19, these events are going to look different than before, and there are many great programs that you can get involved in — including activities on your own time or socially distant volunteer opportunities. Check out the list of Green City events below to see what your local city is doing!
Green Puyallup Day
Date: Saturday, November 7, 9 am – 12 pm
Host Organization: Pierce Conservation District
Description: Celebrate Green Puyallup Day by signing up for one of the five in-person planting opportunities held throughout the city. Spots are limited due to COVID restrictions, so be sure to sign up soon!

Green Redmond Days
Date: October 26 – 31
Host Organization: Green Redmond
Description: Join us for a virtual week of learning about the different elements that make up a healthy forest! Learn about the different layers of a forest, the importance of dead trees, and the role of forests for wildlife communities. Send in the results of your activities to earn special giveaways like stickers and seed packets!

Green Seattle Days
Date: November 7- 13
Host Organization: Green Seattle Partnership
Description: This year, Green Seattle Day is going virtual! We invite you to join our ecosystem for one week of exploration, learning, and celebration of Seattle’s urban forest. Check out the kickoff on November 7 at 10 am to see what activities you can do to celebrate your local environment.

Green Shoreline Day
Date: November 16th – 21st
Host Organization: Green Shoreline
Description: Join Green Shoreline for a virtual week of learning, focused on the elements of a healthy forest! Every day there will be different opportunities online for you to complete on your own time, and you can submit your work for fun giveaway prizes!

Arbor Day and Green Snoqualmie Day
Drive-Through Plant Giveaway
Date: Saturday, October 17, 10 am – 1 pm
Host Organization: Green Snoqualmie
Description: Celebrate Green Snoqualmie Day at home by planting a native plant in your own yard. Free plants will be offered 10 am – 1 pm near the bathrooms at Community Park. Limit one per household, first-come first-served.
Green Snoqualmie Day Scavenger Hunt
Date: Saturday, October 17, anytime
Host Organization: Green Snoqualmie
Description: Explore and learn about the forested places in the city of Snoqualmie by completing the scavenger hunt, released the week before Green Snoqualmie Day. Complete a scavenger hunt and get an exclusive Green Snoqualmie patch! Check this page on Monday, October 12 to download the scavenger hunt and begin your own exploration.
Family Planting
Date: Saturday, October 17
Host Organization: Green Snoqualmie
Description: We have 2-hour timeslots (8 am, 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm) that a family or small group of up to five people can sign up for to plant native trees and shrubs at Snoqualmie’s Community Park.

Green Kirkland Week 2020
Date: November 7 – 14
Host Organization: Green Kirkland
Description: Join Green Kirkland for a week of both virtual projects and in-person events! Sign up for a micro-stewardship event to help care for your local environment, or join in on a virtual scavenger hunt. Check out the events list to see what works for you!

Green Tacoma Days

Description: Check out the website for all the activities you can do on your own time, such as the Port of Tacoma’s public wetland site bingo activities, virtual tours you can take of local restoration sites, and at-home art and science activities!

Seattle Arbor Day

Description: Join us for virtual events and activities including workshops and Ask an Arborist, and for a memorial planting at Charles Stokes Overlook. Check back later for more information about the events and how to sign up!

Puget Sound Orca Recovery Day
Date: Saturday, October 17
Host Organization: Pierce Conservation District
Description: This year, conservation districts in Washington are working together to host an online EcoChallenge to help save our orcas! Get a team and sign up to help save the whales. Communitrees Distribution
Date: Saturday, October 24
Host organization: Green City Partnerships and the Port of Seattle
Description: Residents of SeaTac, Des Moines, and Burien who signed up in spring for a free tree will be eligible to come pick up their tree on this day. Thank you to everyone getting a tree – you are helping to increase your urban canopy and better your community.
