Restore the Duwamish Shoreline Challenge
Restore the Duwamish Shoreline Challenge unites Tukwila’s business community and volunteers to restore the health of the river.
Volunteers are at the heart of the Challenge. From the founding volunteer, Mike Arizona, who saw a problem and stepped up to get coworkers involved in a solution, all the way to the volunteer groups who are just joining us for the first time, volunteers are tackling this Challenge and making great headway. Thank you volunteers!
Join a work party
Work parties are the best way to get your hands dirty in this Challenge. All abilities and ages welcome, and no experience is necessary. Tools, training, water and snacks are provided.
Community and family groups
We love to hear from community organizations and family groups looking to volunteer. Please contact us if your group is 8 or larger. Otherwise, simply register online for an upcoming event.
Join a Water Brigade
Get outside for an hour or two each week. Shoreline Water Brigades will provide weekly watering support and remove creeping invasive bindweed for each week during the summer, ensuring that the recently installed native plants survive the dry summer months. No experience necessary—and come as you are. No special work clothes required. We’ll have gloves on hand. Interested? Contact us
Youth (ages 15-18) are welcome to join volunteer events without a parent or guardian. In this case, youth must bring a signed Youth Waiver to the event. Download Youth Waiver here. For children under 15 years old, a parent or guardian must attend the event with the child and sign him/her in at the event registration table.
Connect your business
Local companies are important to this effort, as we aim to unite the business community and local residents in a shared goal to restore the Duwamish River.
