In Uncertain Times, the Land Holds Steady
This Earth Day, we’re holding close to what connects us: the land beneath our feet and the communities it sustains.
There’s something deeply grounding about the landscape we love. The forests, shorelines, and green spaces offer more than natural beauty. They offer stability, resilience and hope.
In a moment when so much feels fragile – environmentally, politically, even personally – it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But here in the PNW, we have the grit and power to take direct, local action for the future we want.
At Forterra, we believe real progress starts on the ground. When we conserve and care for wild and working lands, we’re also safeguarding the air we breathe, the water we drink, the wildlife we cherish – and the communities we’re part of. Now and for the generations that follow.
So yes—while Earth Day comes once a year, our commitment to Land for Good™ never stops.
Thank you for standing with us in this work. It matters today more than ever.
Forterra Takes the Field with the Sounders

What a night! Forterra and our Evergreen Restoration Program were recognized on the field at Saturday’s Sounders FC match at Lumen Field as part of the club’s Community Assist initiative, presented by Providence.
This special moment celebrated our work to restore urban forests, promote environmental equity, and build climate resilience across Washington. The Evergreen Restoration Program—focused on removing invasive plants and replanting native species—was front and center as an example of local action making a big impact.
Representing Forterra on the field were Board President Ruth True, Chief Governance, Policy & Innovations Officer Kristi England, and Program Manager Daniel Hachet. In the stands, Forterra board members and supporters raised their scarves high in a proud show of support.
Big thanks to Sounders FC and Providence for recognizing the shared commitment to community-powered environmental stewardship. Together, we’re growing a greener, more resilient future for all.
Bonus: The Sounders and Providence teams also gave it their all at a Forterra restoration event at Tukwila’s Crystal Springs Park on Monday.
Delta Air Lines Takes Off for Earth Month at Duwamish Hill Preserve

Forterra Friday goes big with volunteers, sunshine and stewardship
It was a picture-perfect spring day at Tukwila’s Duwamish Hill Preserve—and the perfect setting for a special Earth Month edition of Forterra Friday, powered by Delta Air Lines.
We were thrilled to welcome dozens of Delta volunteers, from their sustainability team to local customers and lifetime SkyMiles members, all ready to roll up their sleeves for the planet. With gloves on and smiles wide, tackling invasive Himalayan blackberry to make way for native trees, shrubs, and groundcover to thrive—restoring vital wildlife habitat in the process.
Work met fun with a healthy dose of restoration education. Thanks to many hands, “can do” attitudes, and nearly 15 gallons of drinking water, we covered 10,000 square feet in relatively short order. The result? Real progress on the ground, community connection, and a reminder of what we can accomplish together.
A huge thanks to Delta for sponsoring this and other Forterra Friday spring events, and for selecting Forterra as its Global Volunteer Project for April. We’re grateful for their partnership—and for everyone helping to grow Land for Good™.
If you haven’t been to Duwamish Hill Preserve lately, now’s the time. Explore the Cultural Garden, outdoor classroom, improved trails, and the growing impact of our restoration work. Sign up to volunteer.
