Event Overview:

With Ajahn Kovilo and Ajahn Nisabho, from Clear Mountain Monastery.

This is our 3rd year of collaborating with Clear Mountain and offering this event. From the beginning, we have seen how slowing down and taking in nature’s sounds, smells and visual richness is a heartfelt and grounding experience.

Designed for everyone, this event will start with a slow and quiet half-mile walk leading us to an open area where the Ajahn’s will guide us in sitting meditation and a talk. We’ll complete the second half with more walking, taking in nature the whole way.

Why Forest Meditation? The Buddha was born under a tree, attained Enlightenment under a tree, lived and practiced under trees, and passed away under a tree. From those earliest days through the entire course of Buddhist history native forests and wilderness preserves played a vital part in nurturing the spiritual lives of sincere and ardent practitioners intent on understanding the truth of “the way things are.”  Let’s see what we can learn from sitting together.

About Forterra and Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve:
Hidden in this beautiful, marshy landscape is a story of how Forterra, protects forests and ecologically critical lands across Washington. For this preserve, we partnered with King County and neighboring businesses in creative ways to demonstrate how conservation and economic growth can lead to sustainable outcomes.

About Hazel Wolf (1898 – 2000) activist and environmentalist, is an inspiration for conservation work and the namesake of the property. Her rabble-rousing determination is shared by many of Forterra’s supporters, monthly donors and volunteers that keep this critical work alive and growing.
