Forterra Nature Discovery: Forest Meditation with Clear Mountain Monastery

July 19 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Event Overview:

Designed for everyone to experience, this event will start with a calm and quiet half-mile walk leading us to an open area where the Ajahn’s will guide us in sitting meditation and a talk. We’ll complete the second half with more walking, taking in nature the whole way.

Why Forest Meditation? The Buddha was born under a tree, attained Enlightenment under a tree, lived and practiced under trees, and passed away under a tree. From those earliest days through the entire course of Buddhist history native forests and wilderness preserves played a vital part in nurturing the spiritual lives of sincere and ardent practitioners intent on understanding the truth of “the way things are.”

One of the highest-quality wetlands in the Greater Seattle Area, Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve is a wonderland of ponds, marshes and forests stewarded and protected by Forterra Trust.

Let’s see what we can learn from sitting together.

About Ajahn Kovilo and Ajahn Nisabho of Clear Mountain Monastery.

The monastics Kovilo and Nisabho embody an early form of Buddhism that represents a return to a simpler way of life centered around nature. Rooted in forest meditation, they guide participants in experiencing nature and wooded trails in a deeper way by walking, sitting, and guided meditation. This was our most popular event and we are very happy for their return.
