Forterra Fridays: September 2025
Friday, Sep. 19, 2025, 1 pm to 4 pm
We’re excited to invite you to volunteer with us at McCollum Park, a beautiful 78-acre space in Everett. The park offers a diverse landscape, including forested areas, walking trails, and open fields. It’s also home to the Northwest Stream Center that provides educational programing that focuses on local waterways and stream restoration.
Join us on Friday, September 19, 1:00 to 4:00 PM as we work together to restore essential habitat at McCollum Park. We’ll begin with an educational walk through the park. Restoration professionals will be on-site to answer questions about plants, restoration practices, and conservation efforts.
This is a great opportunity to connect with nature, create community, and make a positive impact on our local environment. We look forward to seeing you there!
What we are doing: We will focus on removing blackberries, ivy and other noxious weeds around native plants as well as applying mulch to the soil. This will ensure the native plants can thrive. You can even help by bringing plastic-free and adhesive-free cardboard to stop the weeds from regrowing.
What to bring: Please wear long sleeves, long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a full water bottle. Hand tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided, but you can bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
Where to Park: McCollum Park (600 128th St SE Everett, WA 98208)
Where to Meet: We will meet at the northwest end of the park, in the woods behind the swimming pool. Follow the signs and look for the people wearing yellow vests.
Date and Time: Friday, September 19, 1:00 to 4:00 PM
