About Forterra and Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve:
Hidden in this beautiful, marshy landscape is a story of how Forterra, conserves forests and ecologically critical lands across Washington. A vital link in the Sammamish plateau watershed, this 116-acre preserve is rich in migrating bird habitat and all sorts of wildlife, while providing serious flood mitigation for the surrounding community. For this preserve, Forterra partnered with King County and neighboring businesses in creative ways to demonstrate how conservation and economic growth can lead to sustainable outcomes.
Hazel Wolf (1898 – 2000) an activist and environmentalist, is an inspiration for this work and the namesake of the property. Her rabble-rousing determination is shared by all the supporters, monthly donors and volunteers that keep this critical work alive.
