Forterra Nature Discovery: Fungi Fun – The Mushroom Primer

October 18 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Event Overview:

During this slow meander through the woods, participants learn the key tree species in the PNW and why those are important for identifying and finding fungi. Led by Licia Sahagun and Ryan Johnson, we’ll learn the roles fungi play in the ecosystem and how to distinguish different mushrooms with field guides and spore prints while identifying species we find along the walk. This class is great for beginners hoping to dive into the world of fungi and foraging along with plant identification.

About Licia Sahagun

She is a founding member of Firecraft NW and has decades of environmental and sustainable development education and a master’s in environmental and natural resources. We got to see her experience and love for the outdoors recently at Morse Wildlife Preserve as we examined footprints, listened for birds and speculated on a pile of fresh woodchips and missing tree left by a beaver.
