Forterra Nature Discovery: Hidden Inhabitants

September 6 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Event Overview:

Walk beneath a forest canopy and along marshy shores to meet wetland creatures small and large. Gary Mozel is a lifelong naturalist and interpreter who has a knack for explaining what we see and engaging our imaginations on what we can’t see. At a walk here last year, we learned how bats stay warm by roosting beneath the peeling bark of alder trees; also, the “pop” we hear coming from a hummingbird is made by the rush of air over its feathers – like a reed of a clarinet. Join us and discover what will be revealed in this special landscape this year!

About Gary Mozel

He began a 50-year naturalist career that included work with Washington State Parks, The National Park Service, various Audubon Societies, Smithsonian Associates and Woodland Park Zoo. He has led nature walks and tours in such far-flung places as the Olympic Mountains, coastal Alaska, eastern Oregon, tropical Australia and southern Kenya.
