The Camas Blues

Event Overview:
When May comes to Morse Wildlife Preserve, it’s the “happy blues” as swaths of deep-blue camas flowers and the brilliant arcs of bluebirds mark the landscape. With prairies, forests and wetlands, Morse is a veritable Best Hits of western Washington nature. We’ll amble a couple of miles, looking for and talking about everything from ants to elk and oaks to honeysuckle. What birds fly thousands of miles every year to nest here? How was this lovely place saved? Join us and find out! Bring your cameras, binoculars and a sense of wonder.
About Morse Wildlife Preserve
Morse is over 90 acres of forest, prairie and wetland landscape that provides habitats for all sorts of plants and animals, including: black tailed deer, Roosevelt elk, bobcat, thatcher ants and countless migratory birds in the spring. This land-story begins with the owners and private partners recognizing the value of conservation and ultimately working with Forterra to hold and steward the property. Over time, Forterra developed partnerships with the Bird Alliance and the Morse Force. These community and regional organizations provide ongoing stewardship, restoration and educational opportunities. A gem of a landscape, Morse Wildlife Preserve captures Forterra’s vision of nature and people thriving together.
