Welcome to
the wild cam
Check out the latest trail camera footage from Forterra properties.
As we work away stewarding and preserving our wild landscapes, it is easy to forget the minute-by-minute wildlife drama that takes place on the very land we are protecting. By chance and luck, we have captured snapshots into the hidden world of other beings. Watch them interact with each other in their habitat going about their day (and night).
Give yourself a few minutes as our Wild Cam videos connect you to nature and remind you of the other lives that call this Pacific NW home.Â
#3: When the Woods Whisper Elk (1:42)
These Roosevelt elk are at home in this upland forest habitat, but they will also travel through wetland areas and venture out to the prairie early in the morning. Having a range of connected habitats is important as a variety of food sources become available at different times of the year.
#2: The Hidden Lives of the Herd (3:01)
We are thrilled to see these elk and calves meandering on a trail that is, at the moment, free of hikers. These are Roosevelt elks. They are social, and the calves have spots to help them stay hidden in the woods. Notice the large female elk with an injured leg. She has a calf. What caused the injury and is the herd playing or spooked?
#1: The Night Belongs to the Hunters (0:56)
Coyotes often mate for life, are nocturnal, and skilled hunters; if you look closely you can see one of the coyotes is holding a mouse in its mouth! This pack of three coyotes may include a couple from last spring’s litter. This is what conservation looks like – places where wildlife can thrive and play.
