Forterra is pleased to announce the awarding of a Community Restoration Grant to Earth Wilders in Burien for their Ecological Restoration Program.
With this grant, Earth Wilders will provide restoration education for middle school students in the New Futures – an after-school program run through Southwest Youth and Family Services. It works with students in affordable housing communities in South King County. During the three eight-week educational sessions, students aged 11-14 will learn a new social emotional learning (SEL) skillset while also learning about ecosystem restoration.
Students will learn about ecosystem restoration and the mutually beneficial relationships in healthy ecosystems. They will remove noxious weeds like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry and prepare for and plant native trees and shrubs along 5,000 square feet of Seahurst Park.
Congratulations to Wilders! We are so grateful for the work you do. Learn more about Earth Wilders.
