Vice President of Real Estate Transactions
Toby is Forterra’s VP of Real Estate Transactions. The Transactions team completed the conservation acquisition of 6,000 acres of wild and farmlands over 30 transactions in 2019, as well as the design and engineering of a prototype cross-laminated timber multifamily affordable housing unit. In 2020-21, the team is targeting an additional 10,000 acres for conservation and will continue the deployment of Forterra’s Strong Communities Funds, one of western Washington’s cutting edge approaches to Social Impact Capital. Focus projects include multifamily developments in Tukwila, Tacoma, and Hamilton. Toby was previously CEO of Bio City Development Company, a land developer of purpose-designed, ecologically-efficient satellite cities, working in Dubai, Shanghai, and Istanbul. Since returning from overseas, Toby has participated in the development of two of the country’s first pure mass timber buildings. Toby is a graduate of Duke University and the Sorbonne and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Delhi in 1995.
