Donor Advised Fund Guide.

How DAF grants make an impact

As a donor advisor, you can help support Forterra’s conservation work to protect critical lands and waters across the Pacific Northwest by recommending a grant from your donor-advised fund (DAF).

DAF grants help move community-centered climate solutions forward when timing and flexibility matter most. DAF grant funds enable Forterra to respond quickly to opportunities that might otherwise be delayed or lost, such as our ability:

  • Close critical funding gaps on time-sensitive land acquisitions and restoration projects
  • Accelerate community-led solutions that advance equity and environmental stewardship
  • Leverage public investment, multiplying the impact of philanthropic dollars
  • Create lasting benefit, including permanently protected land, restored habitat, and safer communities

DAF grants close gaps and drive momentum

Your DAF grant can help close remaining funding gaps and move these conservation priorities forward. Immediate needs that would benefit from DAF grants include:

Frequently Asked Questions

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that lets you set aside cash, securities, or other assets for charitable giving. Your contribution may be eligible for an immediate tax deduction, and the assets can be invested for tax-free growth. You can then recommend one-time or recurring grants to eligible nonprofits like Forterra over time.

DAFs are typically sponsored by community foundations or financial institutions, such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and Seattle Foundation.
