Forterra is proud to support the Service Board with a Community Restoration Grant to engage 40 to 50 BIPoC youth and young adults (ages 14-24) in designing and implementing a 4-week environmental service component aligned with the Service Board’s social justice and equitable access objectives.
What makes this project special is the way that the Service Board puts youth at the center of their work. From providing in-depth youth mentorship opportunities to youth leading public restoration events, this project empowers the next generation of environmental stewards. These young leaders don’t just participate; they go on to make recommendations to local agencies and partners, ensuring their voices shape the future of our local landscapes.
In addition to the hands-on restoration work, the Service Board will host three guest speakers from various outdoor fields at their annual career panel. This event is open to the public, providing a bridge between youth passion and professional opportunities in the green sector.
This project is made possible through partnerships with tSB’s Youth Leaders, King County Parks, Green Tukwila Partnership, Daybreak Star, Earth Corps, the Environmental Science Center, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, and more.
