Community Restoration Grant award to Tilth Alliance

Forterra is proud to announce a Community Restoration Grant award to Tilth Alliance.

For 50 years, Tilth Alliance has been committed to building a sustainable, healthy, and equitable food future.

In collaboration with Indian American Community Services, Tilth Alliance will host 300 Indian American youth and 80 elders in monthly restoration work parties at McCAauliffe Park in Kirkland. Students in the program will learn from educational presentations and guest speakers about gardening, farming, and ecological restoration.  McCAauliffe Park is an ideal place to learn together with a community learning garden, rain garden, indoor area for environmental education, children’s play area and orchard. Youth also will have a unique opportunity to share what they learn by creating educational signage about forest restoration.

Forterra is excited to provide Tilth Alliance additional funding this year to pilot a program where Indian American seniors will participate in activities like mindfulness walks, forest bathing, and planting native species. Youth volunteers will be recruited to assist with these activities and foster intergenerational connections.

Congratulations to Tilth Alliance! We are so grateful for the work you do.
