Thornton Creek Alliance (TCA) is all-volunteer grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring an ecological balance throughout the Thornton Creek watershed in northern Seattle.
Thornton Creek Alliance aims to restore a tributary of Thornton Creek between Nathan Hale High School and Jane Addams Middle School. Thornton Creek Alliance engages students at different levels in a variety of ways including field trips, testing of creek water, and cultivation of vegetable plants hoping to fill an extracurricular educational niche that combines science with ecological landscaping.
With the grant funding, Thornton Creek Alliance will plant approximately 1,800 native plants including an event on October 18. At the event, they will also conduct an educational youth scavenger hunt for everyone who attends. Dirt Corps will assist with difficult-to-plant areas and teach volunteers.
Congratulations to Thornton Creek Alliance! We are so grateful for the work you do. are on free or reduced lunch.Â
