Forterra Fridays: October 2025
Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, 1 pm to 3 pm
Fall into restoration with us! We’re excited to invite you to volunteer at Duwamish Hill Preserve, a vibrant Tukwila park that provides critical wildlife habitat and walking trails in the heart of an industrial corridor.
Join us on Friday, October 17, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, as we restore essential habitat by removing Himalayan blackberry—an aggressive invasive species that threatens the health of our native trees, shrubs, and groundcover.
Native plants don’t just look good—they do good. They support wildlife, improve air and water quality, and help create more resilient ecosystems in our urban environments.
We’ll kick things off with a walk through the preserve and have restoration professionals on hand to share their knowledge and answer your questions about native plants, the Green Tukwila Partnership, and Forterra’s long-term stewardship of this special place.
Thank you to Swire Coca-Cola for sponsoring this Forterra Friday.
What we are doing: We’ll be clearing blackberry to protect the native trees and groundcover that have already been planted by volunteers like you. The Preserve now features a Cultural Garden, an outdoor classroom, an enhanced trail system, and ongoing restoration areas—your efforts will help ensure this space thrives for generations to come.
What to bring: Dress for the weather—layers are your friend! Please bring a reusable water bottle. Forterra will provide snacks, drinks, tools, and gloves. Together, we’ll bring the fun!Â
Where to Park: Park in the lot at Duwamish Hill Preserve. View in Google Maps
Where to Meet: Signs will guide you from the parking area to our meeting spot.
