Community Restoration Grant Awarded to Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park.

Forterra is proud to announce that it is awarding a Community Restoration Grant to Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park.

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park (FLSSP) is dedicated to supporting, enhancing, and promoting Lake Sammamish State Park. FLSSP will use this grant funding to restore a portion of Tibbetts Creek through volunteer restoration events, provide stipends for partner organizations to expand outreach efforts around conservation and restoration of urban public lands, and collaborate on education events – including broader opportunities with school programs to engage in restoration work throughout Lake Sammamish State Park.

FLSSP aims to restore riparian habitat along salmon bearing Tibbets Creek at the park by hosting monthly volunteer events. FLSSP also will remove barriers to participation by providing annual Discover Park passes to volunteers to be used anywhere throughout our WA State Park system.

In collaboration with Washington State Parks, Trout Unlimited, Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, and other partners, FLSSP’s efforts will engage community volunteers, including youth from organizations like Kids Coming Together and the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. These volunteers will participate in the long-term maintenance of restored areas.

Congratulations to Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park! We are so grateful for the work you do.
